Several tiger suspects have been arrested on information
received from M. Illangkowan alias Samy, the senior leader
for tiger shipping.
The
suspects who are a part of a group of extortionists operating
in Colombo on the behest of tiger terrorist organization
have abducted a number of Tamil Businessmen from the south
to extort money for the tiger organization. Investigations
have revealed that this gang was working hand and glove
with Illangkowan who was also involved in fund raising
for the terrorist group in addition to procuring arms.
Meanwhile
an inspector of police who was arrested at Akkaraipattu
has been found to be a close associate of this gang. He
had also helped terrorists to plant claymore mines in
the city for a payment of Rs. 1.5 million. The Police
are on the lookout for more members of the gang and also
other associates of the police inspector.
