Wanni operations reaching expected targets ahead of time! – Army Commander

Security Forces that are engaged in Wanni operations are reaching their targets ahead of the expected time says Army Commander Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka. He said this addressing the media after a visit to Wanni today.
The visit of the Army Commander to Wanni was to observe ground conditions and welfare of the troops engaged in operations.
The Army Commander said troops operating from Mannar have reached areas adjacent to Madhu Church and are engaged in a decisive battle to seize the Parappatti area which is the supply route of tiger terrorists from Mulathivu and Killinochchi. The troops are only 2 km away from the target area said the Army Commander.
Tiger terrorists, fearing the fall of Parappatti area to Security Forces which would weaken their operations around Madhu Church have deployed heavy guns within Madhu Church area violating international military regulations and are carrying on attacks aiming Security Forces said the Army Commander. However, the 11th Infantry Regiment and 17th Wijayaba Regiment engaged in operations in these areas have already reached their intended targets said the Army Commander.
He also said troops of the 11th Gemunu Regiment, 17th Wijayaba Regiment and 14th Sinha Regiment operating from Welioya, Kiriibbanwewa and Janakapura towards Mulathivu have already smashed tiger Forward Defense Lines of Mulathivu and are crossing the dense jungle towards Mulathivu for the decisive battle of liberating it from tiger terrorists.
The Army Commander said seizing Malathivu FDLs was a significant victory for the Security Forces as tiger terrorists had deployed their main military power to Mulathivu area.
