their targets ahead of the expected time says Army Commander
Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka. He said this addressing the media
after a visit to Wanni today.
The visit of the Army Commander to Wanni was to observe
ground conditions and welfare of the troops engaged in
operations.
The Army Commander said troops operating from Mannar have
reached areas adjacent to Madhu Church and are engaged
in a decisive battle to seize the Parappatti area which

and Killinochchi. The troops are only 2 km away from the
target area said the Army Commander.
Tiger terrorists, fearing the fall of Parappatti area
to Security Forces which would weaken their operations
around Madhu Church have deployed heavy guns within Madhu
Church area violating international military regulations
and are carrying on attacks aiming Security Forces said
the Army Commander. However, the 11th Infantry Regiment
and 17th Wijayaba Regiment engaged in operations in these
areas have already reached their intended targets said
the Army Commander.
He also said troops of the 11th Gemunu Regiment, 17th
Wijayaba Regiment and 14th Sinha Regiment operating from
Welioya, Kiriibbanwewa and Janakapura towards Mulathivu
have already smashed tiger Forward Defense Lines of Mulathivu
and are crossing the dense jungle towards Mulathivu for
the decisive battle of liberating it from tiger terrorists.
The Army Commander said seizing Malathivu FDLs was a significant
victory for the Security Forces as tiger terrorists had
