Two Police personnel were killed and
5 others wounded including a civilian when LTTE terrorists
detonated a claymore mine at Thandiadi in Batticaloa this
morning (March 26).
According
to the defence sources in the area, the claymore blast was
carried out targeting a route clearing patrol undertaken
by the STF down the Valakalai- Thandiadi road around 9.a.m.
Batticaloa
Police said that 2 Police constables and 2 STF personnel
were also among the injured.
The
injured have been admitted to general hospital Batticaloa,
while preparations were made to airlift the wounded civilian(female)
to Colombo for immediate, medical treatment.
A
search operation is in progress, the sources added.
