A
request made by British Minister of State at the Foreign
and Commonwealth Office George Mark Malloch Brown that
the recommendation made by UN‘s Commissioner for
Human Rights Luise Arbour to establish a human rights
office in Sri Lanka should be immediately implemented
has been totally rejected by the Government of Sri Lanka
state sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to reports the British minister has made this
request afte4r a special discussion he has had with ‘British
Tamil Forum’ and TNA Parliamentarian Gajendra Ponnambalam.
In the discussion the representatives of tiger terrorists
have requested the minister to assist in getting a self
administration to Tamils in Sri Lanka and head a campaign
isolate Sri Lankainternationally.
However, Government of Sri Lanka has informed George Mark
Malloch Brown that Sri Lanka was an independent country
and it is the Sri Lankan government that takes decisions
regarding its internal affairs.
George Mark Malloch Brown, when he was with the UN was
questioned regarding his relationship with George Soros,
a multi billionaire who was involved in huge joint projects
involving millions of dollars with the United Nations
Development Program, which Brown had denied. However,
he was living in one of Soro’s mansions adjacent
to the billionaire's own home in Westchester County ‘paying’
a rent of $120,000 while his net take-home salary of $125,000
a year. After stepping down from the UN, he briefly took
up the role of Vice Chairman of Soros Fund Management.
There had been another instance of criticism of the Malloch
Brown family's occupancy of a government-owned, so-called
"grace and favour" apartment in London.
