The local government representatives elected in the polls held for Batticaloa District recently were sworn in before Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa on18th at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

Ms.Sivageetha Prabakaran who obtained the higst number of votes in the poll presenrting her affidivit to the president.The President who awarded a sum of Rs.25,00,000(2.5 Million) to each Local Government Intitution.awarded of Rs.1,00,000 to each Local Government member to purchase a motor cycle.
