 Voting
continued this afternoon to elect 101 members to 09 local
bodies including the Batticaloa Municipal Council, Divisional
Secretary, Batticaloa, Sunderam Arumainayagam announced
to the media.
The Deputy DIG Police HNB Herath, in charge of ensuring
that the elections are held peacefully, said that no serious
incidents had been reported so far. He added that adequate
security had been provided to the candidates as well as
the polling stations.
Counting
of postal votes would commence at 5.30pm while the rest
of the counting would begin at 7pm.
