It is believed that the bomb had been hidden inside a concrete pot along the Galle road opposite the Roxy cinema in Wellawatta, defence official said.

According to the initial information, a civilian was killed and six others received injuries due to this explosion. The victims were rushed to the Teaching Hospital - Kalubowila reports and four school children are among them, the sources further said.

Two of the victims are the students (17) of St. Pauls girls school in Millagiriya while another two are the students (16) of St. Mary's school.

One of the school girls who has been admitted to the Kalubowila teaching hospital is in serious condition, hospital sources said.
