Parameshwari garlanded with pens

Mawbima newspaper journalist M. Parameshwari who was under detention orders was released this morning (22Mar) after being produced before the Colombo chief magistrate court. She was ordered to be released yesterday by the attorney generals department but she was released only today.

Speaking to the media after her release she thanked all the media personnel, human rights activists and official who raised a voice demanding her release.

Meanwhile she was welcomed by the free media movement by garlanding her with pens.

On the yesterday the Attorney General informed the court that there weren’t adequate evidence to file a case against Parameshwari but a fellow journalist of a state news paper "Dinamina", Wijayani Edirisinghe wrote on the 16th of this month saying that Parameshwari's connections with terrorists have been confirmed and that she would be produced before the courts with the relevant charges.
