An Airshow within an Airshow
SNNI Melbourne

Australia's elite military aerobatic team, the Royal Australian Air Force Roulettes, will be among the many highlights of the Australian International Airshow 2007.

This world-class team comprises some of the Air Force's most experienced pilots at the controls of six high performance PC-9 aircraft.

The Roulette's fifteen-minute routine is virtually an “airshow with an airshow” and will feature a series of exciting manoeuvres including barrel rolls, rolling crossovers and loops.

During the exciting display the PC-9s reach speeds of almost 600 kilometres per hour and fly as close as just three metres apart.

The gravity-defying performance often exerts stresses of more than 6Gs on the aircraft and pilots.

The Roulettes team, famous throughout Australia and the South Pacific for its stunning aerobatic displays, is based at the Air Force's Central Flying School at RAAF Base East Sale.

Each pilot is a senior flying instructor with many thousands of hours in the cockpit.

The team is in hot demand throughout the region and each year it performs at some of Australia's most prestigious public events.

The Australian International Airshow 2007 will be staged at Avalon Airport, Geelong between the 23 rd and 25 th of March.  Gates open to the public at 2pm Friday March 23 rd and at 8am on the Saturday and Sunday (24 th and 25 th of March).

Host city Geelong is bracing for an influx of visitors during the period as many Airshow patrons also take advantage of the many and varied tourist treasures the region has to offer.
