Suspected LTTE assassins murdered Ayyathurai Pushpanadan (27), the Deputy Chairman of the Eruvilpattu, Kaludavil Pardeshiya Sabha (local council) and Arasakoon Pullei Mohandas (30) a member of the same local council in Batticaloa in this afternoon (June 2).

According to the defence sources in the East, two motorbike-riding gunmen had shot at the victims who had been traveling in the three-wheeler around 1.30 pm. Both victims were members of Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP), a political party that had emerged victorious at the recently held local government polls in the Batticaloa district.

Police conduct further investigations.
