Security
forces personnel engaged in counter terrorist offensive
are further inching towards LTTE territory inflicting damages
to the enemy in Wanni front. Six LTTE terrorists were killed
and 14 others suffered injuries in yesterday's clashes reported
in Vavuniya and Welioya fronts, the finalized military report
received from the battle front said. Further, 15 more terrorists
reportedly either killed or wounded, the report further
said.
In
Vavuniya front, troops attacked at a group of LTTE terrorist
in general area Periyamadu and ground troops confirmed that
3 terrorists suffered injuries in this attack. In another
confrontation took place in Palampiddy, ground troops confirmed
that 2 terrorists were killed and 2 others suffered injuries.
Meanwhile
troops have found a body of a slain LTTE cadre along with
a T-56 weapon in a search operation conducted in general
area Kovitkunchukulam during day hours yesterday.
Two
army soldiers sustained injuries in two separate confrontations
took place in Vannakulam and Palamoddai areas. Separately,
another soldier suffered injuries exploding an anti-personnel
mine while he was in mine clearing operation in general
area Kovitkunchukulam.
In
Welioya front, troops attacked at a group of LTTE terrorists
who were constructing their bunkers in general area north
of Janakapura. LTTE transmission also confirmed that 2 terrorists
were killed in this attack. A claymore mine weighing of
2.5 Kg was uncovered from this area. Separately, 2 ammunition
boxes consisting 1500 T-56 ammunition were uncovered from
a terror bunker captured in the same area.
An
LTTE terrorist was killed while anther 6 suffered injuries
when the troops attacked at enemy bunker line in general
area north of Janakapura. An army soldier also suffered
injuries due to a separate confrontation took place in the
same area during day hours yesterday.
Troops
engaged in mine clearing operation in general area north
of Janakapura have unearthed 40 anti-personnel mines, the
report said.
Meanwhile,
3 terrorists suffered injuries and 15 others reportedly
either killed or wounded due to several clashes reported
in general area north of Kiriibbanwawa, the report said.
Three army soldiers have received injuries in three separate
incidents reported in same area, the report further said.
Offensive
operations to liberate Wanni are continuing.
