Dinesh Gunawardena, Minister of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development was been appointed as the Chief Government Whip in Parliament,at a meeting of the Government's Parliamentary Group held at Temple Trees a short while ago.

Mr. Gunawardena succeeds the late Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, who as assassinated by the LTTE.
