Two Police constables were reported shot dead by alleged LTTE gunmen near the Kaladdy Bridge in Batticaloa district today (June 15) at 8.25p.m.

According to MCNS sources, the Police constables were shot and killed by LTTE assailants riding a motorbike. The constables were attached to the Vakarai Police and were returning after duty, Police sources said.

Police in coordination with security forces launched extensive search operations in the area following the tragic incident.
