Chennai, June 9 (ANI): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today selected former South African coach Graham Ford as the new coach for the Team India.
Ford has been appointed for a one-year contract. The decision to appoint Ford came after a marathon meeting of the Special Committee of the BCCI to select the new coach for the team.
"The seven-member Special Committee headed by BCCI President Sharad Pawar judged the two candidates and finally decided to appoint Ford as the Indian team coach initially for one year," Board Treasurer N Srinivasan said after the meeting.
"Ford will intimate the BCCI before its Working Committee meeting in New Delhi on June 12, as to when he would be able to join the team," Srinivasan added. The committee also interviewed former England spinner John Emburey , a serious contender for the post after Australian Dav Whatmore was ruled out by the Board.
The Special Committee had earlier invited Ford and Emburey to make a presentation after its June 4 meeting in Bangalore. (ANI) |
