Security forces personnel confronted with the LTTE terrorists who were fleeing the Thoppigala area this morning, Thursday the 28th of June.

The confrontation took place at west of Mavil Aru in Trincomalee district and killed 11 LTTE cadres who were escaping the fightings in the Thoppigala area as the security forces advancing further towards the LTTE's stronghold in the East, defence sources said.

Defence sources further said, in a subsequent search operation a stock of T-56 weapons, three hand grenades and a radio uncovered from the surrounding where the confrontation took place.

No damages reported for the security forces.
