The event broacher handed over to every participant listing the names of the Award recipients under Family and Community Award start with Tissa . It says “ Tissa Amarasekera is a founder Secretary and President of the Sri Lankan Elders' Welfare Association. Tissa has worked hard to take the Club from Strength to Strength, arranging outings, day trips and holidays for the group while ensuring the smooth running of the club. He attends workshops and seminars to assist the Association and keep up-to-date with services and issues that effect seniors in the Community.”

Tissa is a disable person. He has lost both his kidneys. He dialyze three days a week and 4 hours a day. We are aware that after dialyzing he has to rest in bed and he is unable to attend to any outdoor activities but he devotes that time on the computer exploring web sites looking for grants for SEWA. On Non Dialyzing days he is on his feet attending seminars, discussions, and workshops representing SEWA conducted to assist seniors in the Community by Government and noon Government organizations. He is well known in Federal Government, State Government, Local Government and a wide cross section of NGO's as the representative of SEWA. He is a NAATI recognized Interpreter & Translator attending to work at Magistrates Courts, County Courts, Supreme Courts to High Courts and also from Hospitals to Police Stations and Legal Aid to Community Centers and from Schools to Universities as a professional Interpreter & Translator. This relationship has helped SEWA in numerous ways.

All SEWA members join hands with me in Congratulating Tissa and wishing him well in his dialyzing and long life.
