2 soldiers were killed and another reported wounded on Tuesday (July 8) at Arsadikulama in the Vavuniya battlefront when troops confronted with a group of terrorists at 1.35p.m.

The Army foot patrol was along the Arsadikulama - Gandhinagar route when a group of terrorists hiding in distance directed small arms fire killing two soldiers instantly. Soldiers mounted counter attacks at the terrorists forcing the group to flee the area, security sources said.

The injured soldiers were rushed to the general hospital in Vavuniya.

The LTTE losses are yet to be confirmed military sources said, adding that security forces are now engaged in clearing operations in the area.
