Security
forces personnel engaged in counter terrorist offensive
operation to liberate Wanni region inching further towards
LTTE territory inflicting damages to the enemy. The finalized
military report received from the warfront said that 17
terrorists were killed, 19 suffered injuries and 23 reportedly
either killed or wounded due to the yesterday's clashes.
19 soldiers also reportedly received injuries, the report
added.
In
Jaffna theatre of battle, army snipers deployed in Nagarkovil
front gunned down an LTTE terrorist ahead of the defence
line.
In
Wanni theatre, Vavuniya front clashes between LTTE terrorist
and troops reported in Pandiyankulam, Navvi and Palamoddai
areas. In several confrontations reported in the Navvi area,
8 terrorists were killed while another 11 suffered injuries,
the report stated. 8 soldiers also received injuries due
to these clashes.
Meanwhile,
in a separate confrontation reported in Palamoddai area,
intercepted terror radio communication revealed that an
LTTE cadre was killed while another wounded. Separately,
an army soldier suffered injuries exploding an anti-personnel
mine in general area Pandiyankulam and was admitted to the
military hospital in Ampara.
In
Mannar front, 6 soldier reportedly injured exploding a booby
trap in Kuruniadi and Kaddadivayal areas.
In
Welioya front, 7 terrorists were killed and 8 more suffered
injuries due to a chain of clashes reported in north of
Janakapura and Kiriibbanwewa areas occurred yesterday. 23
more terrorists were reportedly either killed or wounded.
4 soldiers also suffered injuries during these clashes.
Meanwhile, 20 anti-personnel mines laid by the terrorists
have been removed by the troops in mine clearing operations
in Janakapura area.
Offensive
