'Ithin
niwunada laya gini' is a Sinhalese movie produced
in Victoria. The story, extracted from true incidents,
depicts the lives of a family living in a rural village
in Sri Lanka.
The movie establishes a milestone within the Sri Lankan
community in Australia. It offered an opportunity for
many young actors and actresses of City of Casey to appear
in front of the camera for the first time. It's noteworthy
that all of them were Australian born Sri Lankan kids
including the talented Hasini Ilangarathna who played
the main role. The two award-winning tele-stars from Sri
Lanka, namely Gayani Gisanthika and Ruwan Wickramasinghe
who covered the two adult roles, have added more life
to the movie.
The movie was shot entirely in Australia at few location
around Lyster filed lake and Berwick. Shiroma Fernando,
the producer of the movie. has taken a great effort to
script a tale she had heard long time back in Sri Lanka.
The music of the famous music director, Tharupathi Munasinghe,
strengthens the theme. The movie is edited and directed
by another talended, award-winning youngster, Rukmal Nirosh
and Camra by Buddhika Serasinge.
The movie has already been screened three times at Monash
campus centre cinema with overflowing crowds on15 of June
and once at Agora theatre in Bundoora. on 12 of July It's
presented by Australia Sri Lanka Carers' Association.
