Five
bodies of the slain LTTE cadres found in the Palaiveddnmoddai
area, 7 km East of Vedithalthivu on 13th July, 2008
Security
forces made further inroads towards the last LTTE bastions
at Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu jungles despite heavy resistance
from terrorist elements Monday (July 14), as troops confirmed
killing 18 terrorists, injuring 14 others during the clashes
reported from the Wanni and Northern battlefronts.
According
to reports, an LTTE terrorist was killed in a SLA sniper
attack at Muhamalai, while a soldier was also reported wounded
during an AP mine explosion in the same area. Separately,
3 soldiers have laid their lives and another reported wounded
during a confrontation with terrorists at Nagarkovil general
area in Jaffna.
At
the Vavuniya theater of battle, 10 LTTE terrorists were
killed and 3 injured, while 10 other terrorists were believed
either killed or wounded in the confrontations, yesterday.
Heavy fighting was reported between troops and LTTE in general
areas at Palamoddai, Navvi and Ampaddankulama in the Vavuniya
front, as troops said 2 soldiers were also wounded in the
clashes.
Following
a search operation conducted in general area Nithyangar,
Vavuniya troops have uncovered a 10kg weighing claymore
mine security sources said.
At
the Mannar front, an LTTE terrorist was reported killed
in general area Puthukkamam, according to military reports.
In general area Shanthipuram troops had uncovered 4 cans
of acid which were kept to be sent into the non-liberated
areas, security sources added.
Separately,
at the Welioya theater of battle security forces confirmed
killing 6 terrorists and injuring 11 others during battles
ensued between troops and LTTE in general areas North of
Janakapura and Kiriibbanwewa. In addition a soldier was
reported killed and 13 others injured during the confrontations.
Also,
troops while conducting search operations in general area
Kirirbbanwewa have uncovered 24 AP mines and 5 IEDs, security
sources said. According to the same sources 35 terrorists
were either killed or wounded in the confrontations at Welioya.
