The Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP) has nominated the Mayor of Batticaloa Sivageetha Prabhakaran to represent the party at the All Party Representative Committee set up to discuss issues pertaining to the resolution of the conflict in the North and East.

The APRC is to meet next week after a long hiatus, according Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Tissa Vitharana.

The APRC did not meet last month because the Jathika Hela Urumaya and Mahajana Eksath Peramuna suspended their participation pending the accommodation of the TMVP in the committee, he said.

The Minister is of the view that the activities of the Committee will be accelerated as the committee now has representatives reflecting almost the entire spectrum of political views in the country.
