Wanni operation in progress; 14 tattooists killed, 17 injured

During the gun battles erupted between LTTE terrorists and security forces yesterday, July 10, 14 terrorists were killed while another 10 injured, the finalized military report received from the forefront said. 17 others were reportedly either killed or wounded.

In Jaffna theatre of battle, army snipers gunned down an LTTE terrorists ahead of defence line in Muhamalai. Meanwhile, 4 army soldiers received injuries in a confrontation took place in Nagarkivil area.

In Wanni theatre of battle, in Vavuniya front, incidents reported from Navatkulam, Ampaddankulam, Naddankandal, Palaimoddai, Navvi and Mundumurippu areas. 7 terrorists were killed while 2 others reported as killed or wounded. 2 army soldiers have laid their lived for the sake of motherland while another 8 received injuries.

In Mannar front, 2 terrorists were killed 2 others suffered injuries when the troops attack at terror bunker defences located in general area Kataddamandakulam. Meanwhile, 8 soldiers suffered injuries due to exploding anti-personnel mines in general areas Puthukamam, Kataddamandakulam and Palaireddumoddai, the report said.

In Welioya front, the clashes sparked in north of Janakapura, Ulathuely and north of Kiriibbanwewa areas. 4 terrorists were killed while another 8 received injuries during yesterday's clashes. 15 others reputedly either killed or wounded. 6 soldiers also received injuries due to these clashes.

Meanwhile, troops engaged in mine clearing operations in recently liberated areas in Welioya front unearthed 32 anti-personnel mines and 4 IEDs around the day. Separately, in a search operation done followed by a confrontation, troops have found 9 hand grenades, 2 T-56 magazines and 115 T-56 ammunition from north of Janakapura area.
