Director of England cricket John Carr arrived in Sri Lanka on Friday to make security checks ahead of England’s cricket series later this year.

Carr has been accompanied by a security advisor to assess the current situation in Sri Lanka.

England play five one-day internationals in October with the Test side following a month later for the three-match series which takes place in Kandy, Colombo and Galle.

The officials visited the board office at Maitland Place on Friday and travelled to Galle on Saturday.

An England and Wales Cricket Board spokesman confirmed it was a routine pre-travel check as per all tours abroad.
