
The
first ever cricket match played in Shizuoka City, Japan by a foreign
Visiting team. Sri Lankan Airlines comprising of six of their
team members and the other five players consist of Sri Lankan’s
domicile in Japan played the Inaugural 30 Over Cricket match in
Shizuoka City –on Japan’s synthetic cricket pitch.
The
Shizuoka team consist of Australians, New Zealanders British,
Pakistanis and Bangladeshi. Shizuoka team captained by Matt Sharpe.
Consist of Joel Chambelain, Mark Steward, Ashley Harvey, Arabab
Mohamed, Nathan Maber, Nick Shannon, Matt Ryan, Shoaib Aziz, Arthur
Harrison, Francois Berguisser.
Sri
Lankan cabin crew team captained by Ranjan Dias Jayasinha. The
team members were Ian Coggins, Nishantha Mendis, Malinda Perera,
Diluck Peiris, Ruwan Ganegama, Lalith Prelis, Sudarsha Warsakoon,
Suresh Vass, Praveen Mendis, U G D Ariyathileka.
The
two umpires Neil Harrison and Robert Martina - ICC qualified umpires.
It is good to note that the lady scorer who is a Japanese is non
other than Hiroko Hirano who did an excellent job may be the very
first Japanese lady – cricket scorer in the World.
Shizuoka
team won the toss and put the Sri Lankan team to bat got 166 runs
for the loss of 7 Wkts. Shizuoka team made 81 runs in 19.3 over’s
being all out.
The
match ended with a few speeches and award presentation. |
