Susanthika wins 100m Asian Gold

Sri Lankan ace sprinter Susanthika Jayasinghe won the 200 metres Gold medal at the Asian Athletic Championship in Jordan.

She clocked 11.19 seconds at the event.

Jayasinghe, captain of the Sri Lankan team predicted to get another easy gold medal in the 200 metres.

Sri Lanka’s Menaka Wickremasinghe who took part in the first round of the women’s 400 metres finished the race in a time of 54.19 seconds and qualified for the finals.

Men’s 400 metres final will be held tonight at 9.00 p.m. Sri Lanka time.

Prasanna Amarasekara and Ashoka Jayasundera will represent Sri Lanka in the absence of the country’s number one runner in the event Rohan Pradeep Kumara.

The championships which has generated little enthusiasm in the region got off to a low-key start without an opening ceremony with the Jordanian king in attendance.
