LONDON: England star player Kevin Pietersen might have lost the world's top batsman spot, but he seemed little bothered about it as he is presently focussed on his side getting the better of Rahul Dravid's men in the upcoming summer series.
The 27-year-old batsman, who became the talk of the town because of his batting prowess, however slipped from the top spot behind Australia captain Ricky Ponting in the ICC one-day rankings as a result of a poor series against West Indies.
''I'm not bothered about losing the one-day No 1 crown. When I originally got the top spot I thought there's better players than me out there, Ricky Ponting for a start,'' Pietersen said.
''We have a Test series now to focus on and that will tell us where we're at.
''India have some world class players like Rahul Dravid , Sachin Tendulkar and Anil Kumble . They stand out to me as the dangermen ,'' he added.
The 2006 Wisden Cricketer of the Year even predicted his side to pocket the India series, but admitted that it will be a big task for him and his team-mates to achieve the feat.
''I predict us to win the series but it'll be a big test of our character,'' Pietersen told 'The Sun'.
Pietersen , who has been recently described by Aussie legend Ian Chappell as the player to replace batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar as the superstar of world cricket, said he would be a satisfied man if he manages to finish his career with an average of 50.
''All I've set myself is 100 runs a Test match, that's an average of 50 and if I have that when I retire, I'll be a happy man,'' he said.
