Sri Lanka Air Force conducted three air strikes at identified LTTE terrorist targets in Thoppigala and Mannar this morning (06), Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) reports.
Accordingly the Air Force carried two air strikes on well identified LTTE military targets in west of Thoppigala, in the Eastern part of the island. The MCNS stated that the air strikes were in support of infantry troops engaged in the rescue operations of the Thoppigala – the last LTTE territory in the East.
Another air strike was conducted on a LTTE terrorist target in Palampiddi, East of Mannar at 6.15 a.m.
The Air Force confirms that the targets were successfully engaged.
Meanwhile the troops are engaged in consolidating their positions in Thoppigala and the operations conducted by the Army rescuing the Thoppigala area, which commenced northeastwards from Narakamulla, is now entering its final stages, military sources state. |
