The Sri Lanka Police Department will take steps to establish additional police stations in east, upon the successful clearing of the Thoppigala.

According to the Police Department the police have already taken measures to set up three police stations in Vakarai, Vayunativu and Kokkatticholai.

Accordingly the police will give priority in setting up new police stations in newly cleared and populated areas in Batticoloa district.

Two more police stations and 25 police posts are to be set up soon in the district while 5 new police stations and 9 police posts in the Trincomalee district and 2 police stations and 8 police posts in the Ampara district also will be established soon.

These new Police stations will collaborate with the Security forces in maintaining law and order in the area.

The project which is scheduled to be completed by October will offer an opportunity for a special recruitment drive under which the required numbers to the police force will be recruited.
