Former
Pakistan skipper and paceman Wasim Akram says that he would
like to do coaching stints with both England and County Championship
side Glamorgan in the future, cricket365.com reported on its
website on Wednesday.
Akram says that he would love to give back something to the
game he cherishes.
Wasim enjoyed his days as Lancashire’s overseas player,
and the former Pakistan all-rounder would like to return to
Great Britain to work as a coach.
After bagging a total of 414 Test wickets at an average of
just 23.62, alongside 502 one-day international wickets at
23.52, there a have been few more dangerous bowlers around
in recent times.
After retiring in 2003 to work in the media, Wasim now says
that he would like to try his hand at coaching, and would
like to work with England’s bowlers one day, along with
County Championship side Glamorgan.
"I would like to coach Glamorgan’s bowlers one-day,"
Akram said.
"I’ve still got a house in England and although
I haven’t coached before, it’s something I definitely
want to do whether that’s now, in a few months, or maybe
in a few years.
"In the future I would also be interested in doing some
coaching with England’s fast bowlers because they have
got the potential to improve and I like living in the UK.
"I’ve got years of experience and I want to give
something back."
England’s current bowling coach is West Indian Otis
Gibson, who was with the England tour party in Sri Lanka,
recently
Meanwhile, Australian fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus has indicated
that he could join the Welsh side for a stint as overseas
player, but added it would be unlikely to be for an entire
season.
