Melbourne: Dilhara Fernando, one of Sri Lanka’s spear heads on the cricket arena is here in Melbourne nursing an ankle injury suffered during the recent Australian tour.

A veteran of 30 tests and a 120 plus one day games, Dilhara went under the knife of orthopedic surgeon Dr David Young on the 27 December 2007. He explained ‘my bones on the left Ankle has worn and developed a bit of a growth on one side which is common in “Ballet Dancers”! It has to be cut and shaped and Dr David is one of the best in the business.’ Dr David a great enthusiast of Sri Lanka Cricket and a great helper is confident that Dilhara will make a full recovery and will be back on the field.

Dilhara is been looked after by the Sri Lanka Cricket Foundation of Victoria while he is here in Melbourne and is reported to be out of action for at least four months and will be out of the one day series against Aussies and India in February 2008. We wish him a speedy recovery.
