17.1.2008
Quintus de Zylva SLCFV

Arjuna Ranatunga has finally reached the much sought after pinnacle of Sri Lanka Cricket. He will guide his beloved cricket nation to even higher standards of achievement that saw him lead his country to win the World Cup some years ago. He is confident that Sri Lanka can once again attain that much sought after prize.

He has the strength and vision to devote his energy to reach that goal. Nothing less would satisfy Arjuna.

Maitland Place was a hive of activity when we met on Saturday 12th January. He has instituted a program that will see young cricketers reach the highest standards expected of them.

Arjuna will be the Chief Guest at the Cricket Ball on Saturday 23rd February at THE GRAND on CATHIES LANE. Sidath and Sharmini Wettimuny and Anuruddha Polonowita will also be present at this sell-out function.

Arjuna will also visit Canberra with David Cruse and I as guests of the Sri Lankan High Commissioner when the Sri Lankan community in the ACT will host the cricket team to a dinner on Monday 28th January followed by the Prime Minister's Reception on Tuesday 29th January and the One Day match between the Sri Lanka Cricket Team and the Prime Minister's Eleven on Wednesday 30th January.

The Sri Lanka Cricket Foundation of Victoria is proud to be associated with Arjuna and Sri Lanka Cricket in their quest to attain the highest standard in world cricket.
