The
International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that Australia
spinner Brad Hogg will face a hearing in Perth today after
being charged with using an offensive remark during the
second Test against India.
Brad
Hogg is accused of making a remark to touring captain Anil
Kumble and vice-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni during the
Test in Sydney.
The
spinner faces a ban of between two and four Test matches
after being charged with the level three offence under the
ICC's Code of conduct which refers to abuse on the basis
of a player's "race, religion, gender, colour, descent,
or national or ethnic origin".
The
action follows the three-Test ban handed to Harbhajan Singh
after match referee Mike Procter found the spinner had racially
abused Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds in the same
game.
The
third Test between India and Australia is set to commence
on Wednesday at the WACA, in Perth.
