The Media Centre for National Security
(MCNS) says that Sri Lanka air force has taken three air
strikes on terrorists' targets in Veddithalthivu and Alampil
areas in the Northern Province today (January 2).
Air
force fighter jets took the first two targets located in
the Veddithalthivu area, North of Mannar around 9.30 this
morning. The two targets destroyed in these air raids were
LTTE sea tiger camp and a safe house of LTTE intelligence
wing. Fighter pilots have confirmed that the targets were
accurately hit. Technical sources have revealed that two
senior LTTE leaders were killed in the attack.
The
second air raid was conducted around 12.30 this afternoon
in the Alampil area, North of Mulaithiuvu. The target was
a logistic base of LTTE terrorists. Fighter pilots have
confirmed that the target was destroyed.
According
to MCNS all three targets were identified after thorough
air surveillance and real time ground information.
