Pro-LTTE media stooges this evening (January 29) claimed that a school bus carrying children was hit by a claymore bomb blast that took place deep inside LTTE dominated territory in Wanni. These pro-LTTE elements, as usual went to the extent accusing the SL Army "Deep Penetration Unit (DPU)" responsible for the abominable attack targeting children. Military spokesperson Brigadier Udaya Nanyakkara refuted the LTTE claims stating that no military operation has taken place in such deep territory, at Wanni.
According to pro-LTTE news reports, the explosion has occurred around 2.25.p.m at Palampiddi, near Madhu Church. Mannar Bishop, Rev. Rayappu Joseph was quoted earlier by LTTE as having said that several school children had died in the claymore blast.
