Year 2008 is a significant milestone for one of Sri Lanka's pioneering Information Technology giants. On May 31st 2008 Informatics (Pvt) Ltd the parent company of the Informatics Group completes 25 years of service to the industry and to the country.
Informatics was established in 1983 with a mission to be a leading Systems Integrator providing quality innovative IT solutions to its customers. The company's record of successes in the IT industry in Sri Lanka is overwhelming. With a varied clientele ranging from Government Institutions, state and private sector banks and other private sector establishments of varying sizes, Informatics have provided quality solutions that have far exceeded customer expectations over the years.
At a Press Conference held at JAIC Hilton last week Priyanga Gunasekera, Director, Sales and Marketing, Informatics (Pvt) Ltd said that their company has provided IT solutions covering diverse vertical market segments such as banking and finance, e-governance solutions, hotel, retail, customer care and billing, insurance, trade and manufacturing and a host of other IT solutions.
Informatics is the market leader in bank branch automation in Sri Lanka and in the banking and finance sector, Informatics has provided front-end and back office solutions to over 350 private and public bank branches and installed over 700 Automated Teller Machines throughout the island. Informatics has also achieved unparallel success in the implementation of e-government solutions in Sri Lanka.
Informatics has developed as a group that specializes and provides key services in the areas of Software Development, Joint Venture partnership for off-shore software development. As a group they focus on the challenging and ever-changing business landscape ahead. Being a people oriented company, Informatics believes in the abundance of talent available locally and regionally and their commitment to sustained technical training facilities awareness of the most current technological training has been the key factor for them to be able to maintain their unblemished record in the software solutions industry.
Informatics has diversified and has several companies engaged in varied fields of information technology and ventured into agriculture as well to fulfill prorate social responsibility.
To mark the 25th anniversary, Informatics plans a series of events such as: IT seminars, User Conferences, CSR driven activities, sports activities and employee recognition.
Their most recent arm Informatics International Ltd (IIT) set up in 2000 provides software solutions for Telecom, Insurance, Border Control and Banking sectors and has a global reach with projects in more than 15 countries. Informatics Institute of Technology established in 1990 is the pioneering tertiary education providing qualified professionals in the IT sector.
IIT has done this in collaboration with leading universities in UK, such as Manchester Metropolitan University and the Keele University. Thy are now collaborating with the University of Westminster, London and the University of Keele to offer their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes on BSc, MSc and PHD in IT and Business to meet identified national needs.
