LTTE terrorist carryout indiscriminate bomb explosion in Colombo; four people killed

LTTE terrorists have carried out a cowardly bomb attack targeting civilians and an Army bus carrying sick personnel at Slave Island in Colombo this morning (January 2). According to the available information the bomb has been exploded around 9.30 a.m. right in front of the Nippon Hotel.

Four people including one soldier and three civilians have been killed and 28 others injured in the explosion. According to the hospital sources, one woman is among the dead. Also, there are 17 civilians and 11 soldiers among the injured. Four of the injured are in serious condition, the sources added.

The bomb has been apparently placed inside one of the external unit of the Air conditioning machines of the Nippon Hotel. The hotel is located opposite Infant Jesus Roman Catholic Church. The church building and several vehicles that were at the location have received damages due to the explosion.
