Sri Lankan Cricket legends will be the spotlight at the welcome dinner to be held on the 28th January 2008, Sri Lankan High Commissioner for Australia,His Excellency K Balapatabendi announced today.
"We are very pleased to be able to formally welcome the Sri Lankan Cricket team to Canberra after nearly two decades. It's going to be a great summer of cricket this years and we are keen for as many Canberrians to meet some of the legends of the game.
This event is organized by the Canberra Sri Lankan community, brlnging together people from all backgrounds adding a real meaning to diversity"' Mr. Balapatabendi said.
Former Sri Lankan Captain/current Chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket, Arjuna Ranatunga, Member of Sri Lanka Parliament 'will be among the special guests on the night, as will star players such as Captain Mahela Jayawardena Vice Captain, Kumar Sangakkara, renowned spinner Muttaiah Muralitharan and master blaster Sanath Jayasuriya.
