Sashikala was brought from Deniyaya to the Unuwatuna Beach Resort in Galle to have afternoon tea with the medical team. Maggie Pathirana - the estate welfare officer- and Sashikala travelled in a three wheeler that took almost five hours to reach UBR.
She can now see quite well and has commenced reading simple books. She attends the estate school. She is quite small and thin for her age. She devoured the food we gave her with gusto and accepted a second serve gratefully.
Her mother is crippled and her father works as a labourer on an estate.
AuSLMAT is proud to have restored the vision of this seven year old child and will continue to support her in any way necessary.
