Something will happen after the inquiry into the incident at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation involving Labour Minister Mervyn Silva, Leader of the House and Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva told The Island yesterday (15).

De Silva heads the three-member SLFP committee, appointed by the party central committee, to investigate the furor at the Rupavahini Corporation when Minister Mervyn Silva had gone there to question the Rupavahini news director T. M. G. Chandrasekara.

The SLFP committee has not held a single sitting up to yesterday, party sources said.

There were also rumours in political circles that the three-member committee will try to shield Mervyn Silva but when asked to comment Minister de Silva said there was no truth in those rumours.

In addition to the SLFP committee probe into the incident the CID is investigating and the Attorney General's advice had been sought.

Rupavahini Corporation sources however believe there is a strong likelihood of the inquiries being misdirected and the blame put on the employees of the Corporation.
