The
Deyata Kirula Exhibition, which focuses on the Government's
development efforts, was declared open this morning at
the Bandaranayaika Memorial International Conference Hall
(BMICH) and the Sirimavo Bandaranayaika Convention Centre.
A unique feature at this mega exhibition is the 'Media
Zone' where all the Sri Lankan Media Institutions have
been brought under one umbrella with due respect to each
other's identity in a move to initiate a new media culture.
The exhibition houses almost all state government departments,
corporations, boards, provincial councils and also includes
private sector representation.
The
exhibition will remain open to the public from 10am -10pm
until 10th Feb (Sunday).
Entrance
to the exhibition will close at 5.30pm according to media
sources.
This
is the second year in succession of the Deyata Kirula
Exhibition. There had been over 2 million visitors for
last year's exhibition.
The
Organising Committee of this development-oriented exhibition
states that maximum
security
measures have been put in place in the interest of the
visitors to the exhibition.
The
exhibition was opened with the participation of the Vice-Chancellors
of Universities and Minister of Finance Ranjit Siyabalapiya
and other ministers, officials of ministries and the media.
