Surrenders say that LTTE is losing ground at Wanni fronts
3.2.2008

In latest reports received, nine persons who surrendered to the joint Navy and Police marshalling point at Murunkan on 31st and 01st of February, were two forcibly conscripted elderly men, 61 and 52-years old, deployed on the Mannar front, Mannar defence sources said.

According to sources, a 17 year old was among the nine who surrendered on Thursday and Friday. The surrender of LTTE terrorists indicated that enemy defences on the Wanni and Welioya front were shifting more towards Kilinochchi and Mullattivu districts.

Eight on the nine who surrenders had served on the Mannar front and the other at Welioya.

One of the surrendered men had swum across Yoda Wewa to reach safety, the sources said.
