Suicide kits found on civilian information: Two suspects arrested

Acting on civilian information, police found two suicide kits and several other war materials this morning (February 02) at Mabole in Wattala, a suburb of Colombo.

"On a tip off received via a phone call, Police recovered the following war materials near a fish stall; two suicide Jackets, six timers, one remote control, eight batteries, eight detonators and nine kilograms of explosives, MCNS reported.

One person was arrested on suspicion by the Civil Defence Force, at 8.45.a.m., the sources further said. According to latest reports, another person alleged to have involved in the transportation of the explosive items was arrested at Saliyawewa in Puttalama District this evening.

He was arrested on information revealed by the suspect arrested this morning, Police sources confirmed. The suspect was plying from Colombo to non-liberated areas when he was arrested at the Saliyawewa Police roadblock, the sources added.
