A POWERFUL blast has ripped through a bus station at Dambulla in north-central Sri Lanka, killing at least 13 people, police said.
The explosion was on a privately-owned bus travelling from the central town of Kandy to north-central Anuradhapura town, police said, adding that several people were injured.
The attack came as Sri Lanka stepped up security ahead of Monday's celebrations to mark the country's 60th anniversary of independence from Britain.
