Under 19 World Cup, Quarter-Finals
Off-spinners
Umesh Karunaratne (3-38) and Roshen Silva (3-29) helped
Sri Lanka restrict New Zealand to 213 all out (49.5 overs)
in a quarter-final match of the Under 19 Cricket World
Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.
The
Kiwis were given a solid start by openers G.H. Worker
(48) and K.S. Williamson (34), who put together 79 runs
in 19.2 overs before the latter was run out. Wickets fell
at regular intervals after the spinners came on, tightening
things.
The winners will take on tournament favourites India in
the semi-final. Pakistan, who beat Australia easily earlier
in the day, take on South Africa, who comprehensively
defeated the hapless Bangladeshis yesterday in the other
semi-final.
