Ms. B. Lisa N. de Silva Chandrasena was appointed the
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Telecom since today (25) making
history being the first woman to hold the topmost post
of the national telecommunication provider.
Ms.
Chandrasena served as a director of Telecom for three
years. Being a lawyer by profession, she worked as in
charge of the Human Resources Management section of the
Foreign Ministry.
Ms.
Chandrasena holds the office of Secretary of the Director
Board of Lanka Logistics established under Defense Ministry
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse to handle the state arms
procurements.
The
predecessor to Ms. Chandrasena, Mr. Asoka Weerasinghe
de Silva was dismissed from the post based on reasons
yet to be disclosed.
