Sri Lanka army launched a multi pronged offensive at the LTTE defences in the North of Mannar area since this morning (February 18), said the defence sources. According to the latest updates from the battlefront the soldiers have gain the domination in the North of Uilankulama, and the Pallikuli areas after dislodging several LTTE fortifications. Also, troops have captured two LTTE bunkers in the Pallikuli, the sources added.

In the North of Uilankulama, troops advanced from their positions and attacked LTTE strongholds around 5.30.a.m. According to the available information 2 terrorists were killed and at least 20 suffered injuries in the incident.

Separately in the Pallikuli area, troops advanced to the LTTE dominated territory and attack terrorists' fortification around 5.45.a.m. After a fierce battle troops gained the domination in the area. According to the available information, the soldiers have found two bodies of LTTE cadres along with three T-56 riffles.
