Tiger gang including 3 Sinhalese arrested

A gang of tiger terrorists who had arrived in Colombo to carry out several attacks has been arrested by a special police team. Jeyaraman Ramanadan alias Thambi alias Ramesh was arrested while hiding at Kotahena and on information given by him other terrorists were arrested including three Sinhalese.

Among the arrested terrorists are Muthkarupan Sodishwaran, Thambirasa, Nishandan, Wathsala Sathyaseelan, Ramayila Sivaram. Shanmugadasan Kumar Sudarhani, Rupan Naufer, Rajapakse Susanthe and Mahesh Palihawadana.

They have planned their attacks while staying at Modara and Bambalapitiya.

Their aim had been to target close relatives of the President as it was difficult to target the President due to heavy security around him. They had also planned to attack senior ministers and civilians. It has been revealed that they have had direct contact with Pottu Amman, the tiger intelligence chief.

Among the Sinhalese arrested one person is said to be a person who had been involved in election campaign of President Mahinda Rajapakse. The police questioning of the suspects also has revealed that the gang had planned to assassinate Parliamentarian Basil Rajapakse and they had expected to get assistance from a Buddhist priest.
