Troops advanced into LTTE territory killing at least 42
terrorists and injuring over two dozens in yesterday's
(February 11) clashes between SLA and LTTE at the tensed
Wanni battle lines.
According
to reports received, 4 terrorists were killed and 3 wounded
in skirmishes at Siripurama and Nedunkandal in Mannar. No
damages were caused to own forces during the clashes, security
sources said.
Meanwhile,
7 terrorists were killed when SLA troops advanced into LTTE
defence lines at Kokkuthuduvai, security sources said. In
Welioya, troops made further advances into LTTE defences
destroying 12 bunkers, killing 13 terrorists and wounding
21 others, Wanni sources reported.
Ten
soldiers also laid their lives while 25 others were reported
wounded during the confrontations in Welioya (11).
Separately,
at the Vavuniya front in general areas Udayanakulama, Periyapantrivirichchan
and Kallikulama 13 terrorists were killed in skirmishes
with troops, security sources said. Five more LTTE terrorists
were killed and 4 reported wounded during fighting at Mullikulama,
Vavuniya, yesterday (11) according to reports received.
