Sri Lanka army has been able to beat off LTTE terrorists from the Narikkulama (Northwest of Chettukulama) area in Mannar by this evening (December 27), defence sources said. Heavy clashes erupted since 11a.m today as troops marched ahead of their defences and attacked the terrorists' fortified positions in the area, sources added.

According to the latest reports, troops have captured six fortified LTTE bunkers along with weapons. The terrorists reported to have abandoned their positions after taking heavy beating form the army soldiers.

The battle has been continued till about 6 this evening. Ground troops have confirmed at least five terrorists were killed in the incident.
