On the occasion of celebrating
Hajj I wish to extend my best wishes to the Muslim community
in Sri Lanka.
Hajj
is celebrated as the most important religious festival
of the Muslims all over the world and it is an occasion
when around 4,000,000 made the pilgrimage to Mecca. The
Muslims through prayer and sacrifice make this pilgrimage
to Mecca as a sacred mission in their lives.
Prophet
Mohamed's aspirations for peace and brotherhood are embodied
in the teachings of Mohamed during this pilgrimage and
the Sri Lankan Government has provided all facilities
to help those of the Islamic faith to make this all important
pilgrimage.
The
Muslims in Sri Lanka have contributed much towards the
progress and happiness of all our citizens. The people
in the East of Sri Lanka today would be able to enjoy
this holy occasion and while the people in the North are
able to get back to their homes and get united with their
families on Hajj day. Undoubtedly all Muslims throughout
the island would celebrate this occasion with pride and
wish for Sri Lanka the much desired peace.
I
wish to extend my warm wishes to the Muslim community
and hope that their spiritual advancement would be realized
on this Hajj festival day.
